I haven’t posted anything lately. Christmas this year was fun. Pj and Crystal were here with 10 month old Jonah. Erika and Matt were also here with 21 month old Joel. With two babies in the house, it was time to lay down the internet for a while. Christmas was busy. I kept the dinner simple with a prebaked chicken and ham, potatoes and veggies. Alexis came the next day with her children and we had subs. By keeping the food simple, we had time to enjoy the children and I think it was a good day for all.

I flew to Charlotte, NC where my sister met me and we went to Conover for my mother’s 85th birthday. I got to see my 5 brothers and sisters which doesn’t happen very often. It amazes me how I feel myself looking so much older while contemplating the visit only to find that we all have the same problem when we come face to face. I’m looking for the day the Lord gives me a changeless body but it hasn’t happened yet.

Jack Carpenter's Baby

Monday morning (12/29/08) Jack took me for a ride in his 1929 Dodge Brother’s Touring Car. It is a magnificent vehicle. If I was going to have an antique car, this is the type that I would want. That afternoon I flew home marveling at the incongruency of going from antiques to jets in a few short hours. Life can be funny sometimes.

The plane home was packed and traveling must have stressed my immune system for I fell ill once I was back on my own turf. I pretty much slept through New Years and am only now getting back to doing much of anything.

My New Year’s Resolution? More healthy food choices with juicing leading the way. So far that’s been an easy promise to keep as nothing else appealed to me, :0)

I am becoming more and more concerned about what is happening to our food supply. While dangerous food used to consist of too much salt or sugar, food as a whole is being changed on the molecular level, irradiated and mixed in with what used to be good for you. Big corporations have leashed the watch dogs that are supposed to keep things safe for us and there is such a PR blitz that most people believe what is happening is for our good.

I have never been an alarmist or one to raise my voice in contention. Those are the people who get shot at. It’s hard enough to spend twice as much for an organic something that looks like the other stuff on the shelf. Yet there’s a nagging feeling in my gut that if we don’t wake up to what is happening now, our bodies are going to rebel and it will be too late.

Because of this growing conviction, I am making more and more Squidoo lenses about our food supply and the changing world around us. Maybe my skin is growing thicker or maybe I want my grandchildren to have something worth eating on their table. Whatever the reason, I am angry that the powers that be decided it is ok to put things on my grocery store shelves that I don’t feel comfortable eating and didn’t have the deciency to even label it as different. That is wrong and it’s time to stand up and be counted against it.

This Wonderful Online Journey

You never know what a year will bring and that was particularly true of January 2008. As that year started, I found myself writing 2 books. More about those later but because of them, my sister gave me a blog called Morning At Last. To be honest, I wondered if I had enough to say to keep it going. I also had no idea why blogs were so popular or even how to get anyone to visit mine. That was then.

Since that time I have discovered a talent for writing. I have become an EzineArticle Publisher, a Squidoo Lensmaster, a blogger and completed the 30 Day Challenge. It has been quite a trip. Needless to say, I am seeing myself through different eyes and looking forward to whatever comes next.

Gandree Consolidated gives me a place to experiment without hurting my other online efforts. Don’t be surprised if the theme changes or things are suddenly added or rearranged. If a plugin or theme is going to act up, I would rather it be here. (If you find an error, please let me know.)

Also, while I have a lot to learn, I have much that I can share with those who are coming after me. This blog is a safe place for questions and answers. It is definitely a work in process but then, most blogs are.
